SCHOOL STRIKES FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
Lately we’ve been visited twice by the next generation of environmental activists.
Firstly we welcomed some XR families in full butterfly and bee regalia, recharging them on pizza and pasta after protesting outside Hackney Town Hall about the local council’s use of toxic weed killer Glysophate which is directly threatening the important insects of our beautiful borough.
It was so great to see such a colourful turnout and the kids embrace the insect dress code.
Secondly, in a show of solidarity with their cause, we invited all children who participated in the second global strike for climate action that took place in central London (and towns and cities all over the world) back to LARDO for some pizza and pasta on the house.
Millions of students marched globally for a cleaner future and demanded immediate action to address the global climate crisis. We had a great turn out afterwards, and we were delighted to make new friends and meet the parents of the children who are also so actively engaged in this the movement too.
It’s so encouraging to see our local community coming together around environmental issues that effect us all.
Until next time, and the next protest, we stand by in solidarity.
